Challenge Myself!

I realize, that I don't do enough scrapbooking as often as I would like. I love scraping, but as writers have blocks I sometimes have them also. Does anyone else have this problem?

Sometimes, I start a page and it can take me ages to complete. I've never been one to start a page and finish it in under an hour. I wish that I could, but I find that I'm picky and I need to lay it out look over it and then decide if I'm loving the way it looks.

Let me know if I'm the only one that sometimes struggle with what I call scrapers block.

A Good Find

So I went out with my mom tonight to Big Lots and found Memory Makers Budget Scrapbooking. Normally a $20.00 book at Amazon brand new, I got it for  50cent. I'm so excited to see what all is included in here.

Happiness is made...

Since, I started working with Cricut, I've made some friends that I like to call my Cricut Family. One of those Cricut Friends recently asked if we could make cards for a dear friend of hers that is sick.

I decided to make a card and everything seemed to just come out to me. Instead of your typically get well soon, I wanted her to look at that card and feel happiness and hopefully it will bring her a little cheer.

Family Pet

My layout today was on 4 pictures of my precious Huggs. They range from different ages of his life.

I used a Family Pet sticker that is generic for any type of pet you might have.

I also used a quote sticker that says, "My Little Old Dog, A Heartbeat At My Feet." Fit him perfectly.

The background was from a pet paper collection, I got from Hobby Lobby.

Card Making

I've only made about 3 cards, but it's something that I'm enjoying. I don't think, I will ever buy another card again. Mine are just beginner level cards, but hopefully I will get them up to experienced level.

Well here is a Happy Birthday card, I made this morning!

Planning a wedding

So in between working on my paper crafts, spending time with my family, friends, and fiance. I'm also planning a wedding. We're getting married in September of this year.

I hope now that I have Cricut I will be able to do some DIY stuff for the wedding. My first task is working on save the date cards. This was actually my fiance's suggestion that we do those with Cricut. I haven't seen anything that I like so far, but I'm looking for just a little bit of inspiration that can get me started. As soon as I get those cards done, I will show them on here.

Besides Scrapping

Besides paper crafting, I've gotten into cooking a lot as well. My fiance is a big help in the kitchen so we are always trying out new dishes.

He has to work today and I'm at his house getting ready to head to the store to make us Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak. We've had this dish before, but it's the perfect meal to when you want to set it and forget it.

Considering that I want to get back to my scrapbooking.

Early Morning

I've been up since about 7:30am working on some cards for Valentines. As I finished those, I looked around my scraproom/library and realized it is a complete mess. After I finished my cards, I worked on getting all my scrap papers back into my scrap box (these are my leftover papers that I will use for other projects). Sometimes it can get a bit overwhelming.

Currently my scraproom is at my fiance's house. The previous owners had this room a very dark pink. I love pink, but not for this room. So future plans are to get the scraproom painted a color I love with white bookshelves for the library and a white scrap working table.

Here is a card that I did earlier this morning.

$9.99 Cartridges

I love how things just fall in your lap. A friend of mine called knowing that I have a Cricut to let me know that Micheal's was having a great sale on cartridges. I ended up getting 4 at $9.99 each. Awesome!

Let It Snow!

With all the snow we had I worked on a page for my Huggs. We had another snow storm last year before he passed away and I captured some pictures of him in the snow.

I've done a snow page before, but I had some different ideas for this one. I used an aqua cardstock as the main background. From there I used another Paper Studio pink polka dot page that I cut out 8". I had a complete pack of Let it snow items and used the tree and snow page from there. I also got the "Let It Snow" letters from Target's chipboard section which is the best. I layered the "It" with brown letters from Anna Griffin chipboard letters. The monogrammed"H" is cut from my Cricut Expression with the "Tie the Knot" cartridge. I cut out a chipboard monogrammed H as well. The green, brown, and snowflake accent were cut from Cricut Accent Essentials and the snowflake is a sticker.

It was definitely a fun layout.

A few days.

It's been a few days since I've made a post. We had a serious snow/ice storm here in Georgia. I was stuck in the house for 5 days and had to work from home. With that now over and the sun is shining ever so beautifully, today is the perfect day to get some scraping done.

Almost Over

So my day is almost over. I did manage to get outside and build a Snowlady. I had to improvise on some of the items because I didn't have anything for features. I think she turned out alright. Not really round, but kinda has on a dress I think. It was definitely a fun day!

Snow Day!

It is a very snowy day in Georgia. I'm thinking I might get a little courage and venture out into the snow to make a snowman. I thought I would work on one right here on the back deck. If that one turns out alright, I can go to the front yard. The only thing that might stop me is the sleet that is coming down really fast. I am planning on taking tons of pictures and making a new layout called Snow Day! Should be fun if I can convince my fiance to come outside and join me.

Good Morning!

It's a cold day in Georgia. With a busy day planned, I have to get up and hit the ground running. I've been working on my scraproom and it needs a little organization. My scraproom is also combined with my library. With that being said, I'm trying to create a nice medium where I'm showcasing my books and also keeping my scrap area completely organized. We're going over to Ikea sometime today. Wish me luck, I'm either getting some new bookshelves or storage for all of my scraping stuff that is currently tucked out of sight.

So far I have used Paper Pups the most, but I can't wait to tackle the other ones.

Miss You

I mentioned in my first post that my baby Huggs passed away in July 2010.

I started back scrapbooking because of him. I wanted to make sure that I didn't let his memory fade away. He was a huge part of my life. I got a Cricut Expression for Christmas and the first page I created for him is this one. Miss You Huggs.

New Hobby - Scrapbooking!

Let's go back to 1996 - I can remember when I was in high school and I started scrapbooking. It definitely is not what it used to be. At that age, I would take all of my pictures, a random photo album, and some clippings from magazines to make a scrapbook.  After going through all the magazines I had, clipping sayings, letters, and doodles; I would get started working.

Now welcome to 2011! Scrapbooking has changed from those days.

I got back into scrapbooking in July 2010. My furbaby Huggs passed away from a brain tumor. I decided then that I would take every single picture I had of him and get them developed. In order for me to keep his memory alive, I decided that I would work on a scrapbook for him. It's all about Huggs.

For you all that might not know what Scrapbooking is, I've left you with a little definition.

What is Scrapbooking?

Scrapbooking is a method for preserving personal and family history in the form of a scrapbook. Typical memorabilia include photographs, printed media, and artwork. Scrapbook albums are often decorated and frequently contain extensive journaling. Scrapbooking is a widely and increasingly practiced pastime in most developed countries
